St. Ebbes (Headington) FC capped a fantastic season by lifting the Couling Cup at Abingdon Town FC, in their first season in the League.

A well supported St Ebbes (Headington) FC won 4-1 against the favourites Chequers FC. Ben Dyer and Stuart Rainey were causing problems up front for St. Ebbes with their pace and Tom Green saw his early effort turned round the post by Francis Mapleforth in the Chequers goal. But when Stuart Rainey burst down the left wing on 15 minutes, he was abruptly halted by Luke Murphy who received a red card for the challenge. With a man advantage St. Ebbes pushed hard and five minutes later 17 year old Josh Horn opened the scoring with a low hard shot from 15 yards. Chequers countered but Ebbes keeper Stephen Hagen kept them at bay with a series of good saves, before succumbing to the pressure when Kelvin Sherman levelled with a powerful header for Chequers. But, St. Ebbes struck back when Sam Paul found the back of the net just before half time to go in 2-1 at the break. Chequers FC started the second half on the front foot but were reduced to 9 men when Shane Roche received a second yellow card, with the crowd spurring them on Ben Dyer then put St. Ebbes 3-1 ahead. Still Chequers created chances but any hope of a comeback disappeared when Bradley Fine also received his marching orders, St Ebbes pressed forward and after going close a few times Stuart Rainey made it 4 and Captain Daniel White proudly lifted the cup. Chequers can take consolation in the knowledge they have already won 2 cups this season and could still win the Premier Division if they get 4 points from the remaining 2 games.
