The Clubs, representing England, were crowned UK champions at the Tesco Cup football final held at the Reebok Stadium on Sunday 17th May.

Manchester City overcame their Northern Ireland counterparts by two goals to nil in the semi final, then later in the day the team took the honours after winning 4 -2 on penalties against Celtic Ladies FC, representatives of Scotland.

Former Republic of Ireland player Andy Townsend and England women's goalkeeper Rachel Brown both attended the event and selected Chloe Ferguson from Manchester City as 'Defender of the tournament' for her impressive performance on the pitch.

Meanwhile, Manchester United took on Llanidloes Girls FC, from Wales, in their semi final winning by one goal to nil. Then later in the day overcame last years champions Hibernian Girls FC in the final, again by the one goal.

Manchester United's Saffron Jordan was named as Player of the Tournament for U16 girls, with teammate Lakisha Deweever winning 'Forward of the Tournament.'

Lancashire FA is extremely proud of the achievements of both clubs, not only representing the County but the region and the Country throughout the competition. Congratulations to both Clubs on your success.
