Report for Week Ending Saturday 29.02.2020


A rather short report this week as only one game survived the weather, and that was at Thurstable School, Tiptree were Tiptree Engaine ‘A’ took on Parkeston Welfare Park on the 3g Astro Turf pitch.


All of the games, Abbey Fields against Ramsey & Mistley Reserves, Mersea Island Reserves against Sporting Rebels, Ramsey & Mistley 1st XI against Langham Lodgers were all lost to waterlogged pitches.


The more competitive Parkeston side took a first half 1-0 lead given to them when Daniel Tweed slotted home, and they held onto this lead through to the break. Tiptree equalised in the second half, before Parkeston Captain Robbie Connah was fouled in the area, got up, and duly netted the resulting penalty to give Parkeston the lead yet again, 2-1. They held onto this lead until the final ten minutes of the game when the more experienced Tiptree substitutes coming on were able to turn the game in Tiptree’s favour to enable them to run out the 3-2 victors and the claim the vital three points. On the Tiptree scoresheet were Charlie Beal with a double and Ashley Turner.
