Report for Week Ending Saturday 21.09.2019


Five League matches were scheduled for took place this week.


The unbeaten League leaders Sporting Rebels were at home to pointless bottom side Stanway Athletic Reserves looking to preserve their 100% start to the season, and duly did so winning 5-0 and maintain the top spot. Tommy Rose gave them a first half 1-0 lead, before second half goals from Kane Smith netting his first goal for the Club, an Alfie Towsey brace and another from Jay Sellwood who also netted his first goal for the Club rounded off the scoring. Fourth place undefeated Langham Lodgers were also at home to third placed Oyster Reserves in what on paper was the game of the day with Oyster looking to maintain their 100% start. This game ended in a not unexpected 2-2 draw; Langham getting the leveller in added time at the end of the game. Ross Richardson and Daniel Stevens were the Langham scorers, and Dominic Mosses netted both the Oyster goals. The other unbeaten side Abbey Fields visited Parkeston Welfare Park, and came away with a 5-2 victory to maintain second spot in the table.


In the other two games, Ramsey & Mistley 1st team entertained Tiptree Engaine ‘A’, in a match which saw twelve goals, with the home side winning 8-4. In the process they move up to third position in the table; Ben Allington put Ramsey 2-0 up, but they were pegged back to 2-2, before Allington added a further two goals for a first half four timer, to put Ramsey 4-2 up at the break. Stewart McFarlane, Tom Farthing, and Ryan Dawson added three further goals to put Ramsey 7-2 up before Tiptree pulled another two goals back for a 7-4 score line, with still enough time left for Thomas Simpson to round of the scoring in Ramsey’s favour for a final 8-4 score line. In the other game, the Ramsey & Mistley Reserve side visited Stoke by Nayland, and came away with all three points recording their first victory of the season with goals from Wesley West and Liam Hymus in a 2-1 win.
