Report for Week Ending Saturday 07.09.2019


A total of forty three goals were scored across the full compliment of matches that took place this week with Langham Lodgers netting ten at home against the early leaders Tiptree Engaine ‘A’. In this high scoring match the Langham goals were scored by Barry Sage with four, Liam Roberts and Philip Stevenson with two apiece, and Kenny Dilloway and Daniel Stevens. This morning’s second placed side Abbey Fields played out a 3-3 draw at Birch Park against visiting Tollesbury Reserves, with Donnell Henry netting all the three Abbey goals. For Tollesbury, it was Nathan Biggs, Lewis Ponder and an own goal. Parkeston Welfare Park who were third hosted fourth placed Sporting Rebels, but it was the visitors that left with the points winning with a 4-1 score line to now go top of the table with maximum points.

Mersea Island Reserves welcomed Stoke by Nayland to the Glebe, and emerged with a 3-2 home victory, with their goals coming from Rory Green and substitute Byron Higgins with two. Elsewhere, Stanway Athletic Reserves entertained Oyster Reserves and this encounter saw another away victory with Oyster winning 7-0 after leading 4-0 at the break; courtesy of a hat trick from Dominic Mosses, a Ryan Christian effort, and substitutes Craig Lynn with a double and Ross Pearson.

The other match was the Ramsey & Mistley derby with the 1st team hosting their Reserve side, and it was the 1st team that took the points with a 5-3 victory. The Reserves took a 1-0 lead but were pegged back to go 4-1 down before rallying to 4-3 down but they conceded once again to give the 1st team the 5-3 victory and the points. On the Reserves score sheet was Wesley West, Peter Wilson and Jimmy Morrison, whilst for the 1st team it was Christopher Stratton with a brace, Tommy Farthing, Ben Allington and Thomas Simpson.
