With Rose Hill in cup action at the weekend Chalgrove missed the chance to go top after being beaten 2-0 at AFC BLACKBIRDS.

It was a case of missed chances for Chalgrove that saw them lose valuable points in the race for the league title. With the scores level at the break the sides came out for the second half with Chalgrove starting the better, slowly but surely Blackbirds started to get a hold of the game. Midway through the second half Blackbirds hit Chalgrove on the break and when the cross came in from the right wing, Jack Munt was waiting in the middle of the penalty area to slide the ball home for Blackbirds first. Shortly after Ben Curtis stepped up to curl a right footed 25 yard free kick in at the far post to make it 2-0. Aston Shaw came off the bench for Blackbirds and continued to cause problems for the Chalgrove defence, with the Chalgrove keeper making two great saves near the end of the match.

CJL Semi Final

Fairview 1 ROSE HILL FC 7 (K.Matthews 3, D.Spiers 2, S.Qualter, S.Simmons)

RHFC stormed into the first final of the season with this emphatic victory today over Fairview.
...
A dire first half full of missed opportunities by Hill and a great battling performance from Fairview saw the teams go into the break 0-0 . But a goal glut in the second half led by a great hat trick from young Kamen Matthews (including one straight from a corner kick), a quick fire brace from Damon Spiers and two quality strikes from not so young veteran player-chairman Sean Qualter and Steven Simmons saw The Hill through to meet either Oxford Blackbirds or The Nuffield in the final.
