This could be a headline from this season, however, it’s actually a headline from September 2003 when DAVID JENNINGS was playing for BULLNOSE MORRIS.

In the last 12 years David Jennings has played for numerous teams in both the Oxford City FA and Oxfordshire Senior League’s, also in 2003 Fairview FC were in the PREMIER CHALLENGE CUP FINAL with some familiar names appearing in their line up. These include MARTYN McCAIGUE, MICK SCRAGG (now assistant manager) and of course TREVOR KIMBER as manager. Their opponents in the final were North Oxford FC (now OSL) who happened to have David Jennings in their squad along with TOM GAUGHAN (now at BLACK SWAN). Moving onto 2007 WHEATLEY UNITED faced Brill United in the Doug Hobbs Cup, the Wheatley team also had some familiar names in their line up with JOHN BOODELL, PETER CUDD and TONY COLLINS. In 2008 Fairview FC again featured in the Premier Challenge Cup, with some more familiar names in their line up, such as MARTYN McCAIGUE, MICHAEL MEDLAND, DAN HARTLEY, LAURIE CRAWFORD and KEVIN COX. Their opponents that day were AFC HINKSEY who also included some familiar names from this season, they are DAVID JENNINGS, JEROME McCALMON (both now at BLACKBIRD ROVERS), CHRIS HAINES and DAMIEN PERKS (both now at BLACK SWAN).
These are just some of the examples that show 'what' the Oxford City FA is all about, previous OCFA teams now playing at a higher level include Northway, Riverside, North Oxford, Marston Saints, OUP (all Oxfordshire Senior League) not to mention Headington Amateurs who now play in the Hellenic League.
This goes to show that everyone has to start somewhere and that is where the OCFA come in, whether you just want to meet up with friends on a Saturday for a 'competitive' run-out or you have ambitions to start a team that you think can progress to a higher level. If it is the latter then the committee will always work with the team/club to point them in the right direction and offer advice on how to make your team/club run more smoothly.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ENTER A TEAM OR KNOW OF ANYONE LOOKING TO DO SO, THEN PLEASE CONTACT THE LEAGUE SECRETARY THROUGH THE 'CONTACT US' SECTION OF THIS WEBSITE.
