Man Of The Match : Euan

(16-Nov-13) vs Fleet Spurs Vipers (A): 1-0

Back down to Earth with a thump! After a pretty useful run of results the Harriers finally met their match in a very close run game. Chances were relatively rare so a 1-0 win was always going to be on the cards. The boys were unlucky to concede in first half injury time, but the goal was an object lesson in keeping your concentration until the very last moment. Congratulations to Euan for his Man of the match performance. Euan was sent on to do a job and he stuck to it with rigour and such application needs to be recognised. Well done too to Ryan for the Trainer of the Week. And thanks again to all the parents who came and played their part. We learn as much, if not more, from defeat as victory ( and hopefully we will be learning from the latter next week ), but a few things we learned about the Fleet loss were (a) when we play as a team we are very good, when we play as individuals we suffer (b) we need to communicate more effectively – you need to be the eyes and ears of your team-mates as well as yourselves (c) Fleet Spurs is bloody hard to find when Kennels Lane is shut.
