The National Blind League kicked off in fine fettle on Saturday at the Point4 in Hereford with one ex-international captain (Darren Harris) and one current international (Keryn Seal) striking home in great style.

Harris hit 8 goals (including two hatricks) for Sporting Club Albion from West Brom helping them to sit on top of the League table on goal difference from Seal’s Worcester team despite his own 5 goal contribution. Both Clubs had 100% records yesterday keeping a clean sheet in addition to racking up the goals.

All the matches were well contested affairs and already pre-season development work has shown that the League will be competitive this season once all players are available.
Middlesex & Home Counties were without David Clarke and will be quite formidable opponents with his inclusion. However they have already turned up a new striker in Muhamed Abdin who has been playing the the Japanese League for the past 7 years.
Everton were low on player power being without last year’s golden boot winner, Jonathan Gribbin and despite yesterday’s results will be in the mix again.

Leicester were the new team to the League and consisted solely of their development players with no international players yet with them. They gave a very creditable account of themselves as a unit and showed enough on the day that with the inclusion of senior players and their own continued development that they will become a force to be reckoned with in the future.
Unfortunately due to in house domestic problems the RNC Academy Bulls could not take part yesterday but will be back with a vengeance no doubt in November.

The games were played on both the indoor and outside facilities which provides the League with excellent facilities. The games were well officiated by referees developing in the game and who will have London 2012 as their target.
