Divisions starting to take shape

The race for the NAPIT SUNDAY LEAGUE FIRST DIVISION title looks like it could go down to the wire with leaders Hasland and second placed Britannia still only separated by goal difference after both sides won again at the weekend. Hasland goal machine Lee Clay added four more goals to his already superb tally in a 7-1 victory over Brampton Rovers, with Ant Lynam adding a couple, Luke Hollis one whilst Britannia beat Creswell Seniors 2-1 to effectively end their title hopes. Strugglers Hollingwood recorded a fine 3-0 win at Bolsover Town SC, Russell and Vernon the scorers to increase their hopes of avoiding relegation.

In NAPIT TWO Clowne Wanderers remain on course to win the division following their 4-1 victory at Barrow Hill MC with Rowley, Careless, Richardson and Clayton hitting the winning goals. Killamarsh Juniors could still catch them however after they beat Grassmoor Sports 4-2 to keep their hopes alive.

The fight for runners up position in FOUR continues as second placed Double Top won 7-3 at Pilsley, John Tulip hitting a treble, third placed Red Lion Whitt Moor beat Spital 4-2, Jody Lowe, Nick Darnell, Tom McTighe and Luke Linacre and fourth placed Dronfield Woodhouse scored three first half goals [ Liam Mottram 2, Kieran Loftus 1] to beat Chatsworth Cup finalists New Inn Newton. It was a day for veterans at Lowgates Sports as Daz Nicholson and Dean Lowe netted for the hosts against visitors Dronfield Miners.

In FIVE Butchers Arms Spartans stalwart Jason Field played his final career game against Goldminers and not only did the shot stopper have a fine game in goal he also hit the back of the opposition net from the penalty spot as Spartans completed their league programme with a 4-1 win. The other two games in the division were close fought affairs with AFC North Wingfield beating Harleys Scarlets 1-0 and Palterton Sporting and Chesterfield Arms drawing 1-1.

NAPIT SIX leaders Birdholme 1sts suffered a set- back, losing 3-2 to Woodthorpe Inn for whom Chapman, Walsh and Whiteford scored although the defeat was to some extent offset as second and third placed New Witt B and AFC Bolsover drew 2-2. The other game in SIX between Clowne Wanderers Reserves and Langer Lane ended goal-less.

Craig Smedley had a day to remember in SEVEN as he hit four goals as his Masons Arms side thrashed bottom club Birdholme 2nds 7-2. Fidlers Rest were also winners, beating Old Whittington MW 2-1, Ant Maidens and Gary Webbley hitting the winning goals.
Chambers scored three Millington two as Grassmoor Sports Reserves beat Chesterfield Town Reserves 7-0 in EIGHT as Brampton Brewery went second following a 3-1 win over Britannia Tupton.
