Easter Sunday Cup Treat

The mouth-watering third round Dey and Co Alma Cup tie between NAPIT ONE leaders Hasland and second placed Britannia fell victim to the weather on Sunday but fellow NAPIT ONE sides Killamarsh Juniors Athletic and Brampton Rovers both overcame lower league opposition to progress to the next round. Killamarsh faced a tricky tie at NAPIT THREE Chesterfield Town and held their nerve in a high scoring game to win by five goals to three, Parsons scoring a hat trick, McNeil and Edge one each. Rovers visited Creswell to take on NAPIT THREE Creswell Black Diamond who had beaten NAPIT ONE opposition in the previous round. However on this occasion Rovers were just too strong and won by five goals to one, Atkin, Davidson, Ward, Middleburn and Purcell hitting the winning goals. The outstanding second round tie pitched NAPIT THREE leaders Walton against second placed Silver Birches with the former winning the tie by five goals to two, Brown and Mitchell scoring twice for Walton, Wright once.

Staying with the domestic cup competitions and in the Ace Sports Chatsworth Cup third round an all NAPIT FOUR tie was won by New Inn Newton who beat Double Top by four goals to one, Hadley, Webster, Reilly and Macaskill the match winners. AFC Bolsover took on fellow NAPIT SIX side Clowne Wanderers Reserves and with twelve minutes to go the game was looking to be heading towards extra time being all square at 2-2 before Bolsover scored a third and decisive goal. Rogers and Robson scored for Wanderers with Henry, Warden and Furness scoring for the winners.

In the ACL Hutson Cup Newbold’s fantastic league form is being replicated with goals from Gerrity and Bassett, who both scored twice, sealing them a 4-1 Third Round victory over Birdholme. Into the league and NAPIT SECOND DIVISION title chasers Renishaw MW came up against mid table New Whitt in a game they would have been expecting to win. Their opponents had other ideas however and goals from Morton and Burton eclipsed an Alberry effort as New Whitt claimed the points.

A close game in NAPIT FIVE between Gate Inn North Wingfield and fellow relegation threatened Brimington Utd ended level at two goals each with Wallis and Turner netting for Gate, Newell twice for Utd.

In EIGHT second placed Holmebrook Tavern 2nds cruised past Oxcroft Utd by eight goals to one with O’Donnel hitting four, Wake two, Marven one and an own goal confirming Tavern’s superiority.
