Season gets off to a soaking start!


The season got underway on Wednesday night in wet conditions as the League reverted back to 2 Divisions.

In the Northern Division, the 2 new teams met with Asfordby Amateurs overcoming Thurmaston Town 3 ? 2 with goals from Mitchell White 2 and Patrick Reading with James Porter replying for Thurmaston. Ashby Ivanhoe entertained Shepshed Dynamo and ran out 5 ? 1 winners with a double for Michael Ellis with Ben Slater, Scott Cordy and Elliott Fern also bagging, Shepsheds? reply coming from Luke Allard.Rothley Imperial had a long journey to face Cottesmore Colts and had a good trip back as Sam Harvey and Jake Harrison scoring in a 2 ? 0 win. Heather St. Johns faced Ratby Sports and ran out 2 ? 1 winners thanks to Tom Maguire and Jack Bowring, Harry Grigg replying for Ratby. The final game in this Division saw Holwell Sports travel to Highfield Rangers, who with a last minute penalty secured a 3 ? 2 win. Tyler Sibson, Ben Warner and Ashley Palfreyman for Holwell. Leavi O?Shungburg and Pearson Mwanyongo for Highfields

In the Southern Division, the 2 big guns faced each other with Jack Sutherland for Blaby & Whetstone Athletic and Liam Aubrey for Oadby Town in a 1 ? 1 draw. Aylestone Park entertained St. Andrews and ran out 2 ? 0 winners thanks to a double from sub. Tom Carey. Saffron Dynamo took a trip to Barwell and returned 1 ? 0 winners thanks to a goal from Alex Baraclough. Harborough Town entertained Lutterworth Athletic and thanks to strikes from Barnes Gladman 2, Aaron Watts, Matthew Bizely and Matthew Tutt ended up 5 ? 1 winners. Joshua Castleman with Lutterworths consolation. In the final game Leicestershire Constabulary travelled to Dakyn Road to face Leicester Nirvana but came away empty handed as Reece Morris, Thomas Astles, William Gonga and Joshua Orton netted in a 4 ? 2 win, with Tatinder Baines and Joshua Taylor replying for Nirvana.
