Jack Frost Nips In As Saint Nicks Fold... A heavy frost almost put paid to a second successive blanket postponement, writes Darren “Statto” Jones (statto@cssfl.info).

Firstly though, the Premier Division was thrown into total turmoil with a fourth team from the original nine folding last Friday. St Nicholas were the latest and have left the division with just five teams.

With waterlogged pitches wiping out the previous week, just two games got the nod due to an overnight frost.

In Division One, runaway leaders MBDA continued their 100 percent start with a comfortable third win of the season over Lifestyles. They dominated the opening twenty minutes and were rewarded with two goals. The opener saw a corner played to the edge of the box and Ross Walker directed it through a crowd into the back of the net. Phil Fisher then did well down the line and his low cross was converted past Dan Barrett by one of his own defenders. Ryan Ellis pulled one back after some mis-communication at the back before Walker grabbed his second for 3-1 when he ran onto a ball played over the top by Craig Sutherill and headed home. Ben Field reduced the arrears again from a pull back. Kyle Watson then made a brilliant run round the back of the defenders onto another through ball from Sutherill and was tripped in the box for a penalty, which he converted himself. The floodgates then opened when three goals in five minutes secured the win to make it 7-2 by half-time. Firstly, Sam Harwood was in on the act with a good finish before Fisher got on the scoresheet. Ashley Kersey’s header from a corner completed the purple patch. Kersey scored the only goal after the break to take him to 22 for the season when he ran onto another through ball, controlling with the outside of his foot and placing the ball coolly into the bottom corner.

View Point Wanderers had a very beneficial week in Division Three. A 4-0 beating of TC Wanderers was followed by the award of two extra points from a previously drawn game as their opponents were found to have fielded an ineligible player. They continued their unbeaten start and were in front early on against a ten-man TC side when Cam Bridger ran clear of the defence and rounded the on rushing ‘keeper and rolled the ball home. It was soon two when Charley Blackham was upended in the box and Scott Taylor sent the ‘keeper the wrong way from penalty spot for his fourth spot-kick of the season from five goals in total. They were three-up just before half-time when Rich Marvell scored the goal of the game when he hit a powerful drive from 25 yards, giving the ‘keeper no chance. After missing plenty of chances, they completed the scoring late on when a good cross from Gaz Baker was met on the volley by Bridger as they move up to second and a point behind leaders Broadhall Athletic with a game in hand.
