All About Asbestos 3 Kings United 2 (AET)

All About Asbestos came from 2-0 down to stun their Premier Division opponents and lift the Challenge Cup for the first time in their history.

Kings United couldn’t have got off to a better start as they opened the scoring in the very first minutes through Lee Palmer. Their opponents came straight back at them with Charlie Meade looking very dangerous. All About Asbestos were then hit with another blow on 38 minutes when Luke Hillman doubled the lead for Kings. Asbestos reduced the deficit on the stroke of halftime when Callum Wilshaw slotted home.

The second half saw All About Asbestos come out on the front foot and dominate large periods of the match and were rewarded with a well-deserved equaliser on the hour mark, Charlie Meade getting the goal that he deserved. Both teams had chances to win the match late on, but it ended 2-2 after 90 minutes.

Halfway through the first period of extra time, All About Asbestos took the lead, substitute Iain Stead latching on to a through ball and finishing well. In a frantic end to the match, Kings thought they’d equalised late on to send the tie to penalties, but the goal was ruled out leaving All About Asbestos to celebrate a famous victory.

Player of the Match was awarded to Warren Schulz.
