Week 12 LIGA Team Of The Week ACS FC

Summary of the action from Week 12 in the LIGA 11-a-side competitions

Week 12 saw a return to normality in the LIGA as seven games were played across the three leagues.

In LIGA A ACS struck a blow against one of their title rivals as they racked up an impressive 5-0 win against BSOC All Stars. Kings Of Leon Osman continued to push themselves into the title race as they beat FC Futsal 6-0. The final game of the day was a true back to the wall performance by History Society against BSOC Bulldogz. History were forced to play the majority of the game with ten men due to non-arrivals and injuries, dropping to nine men for the final fifteen minutes due to a further injury. Despite this they hung on to record the first ever 0-0 in LIGA history against a BSOC Bulldogz side that features one of the leagues top goalscorers, with the closest BSOC came to taking the lead being towards the end of the first half as a Wil Hurl thirty yard shot struck the right hand post and rebounded across the goaline.

In LIGA B fixtures were tweaked on the day as both Goldsmiths and Teenage Mutant Ninja Skrtels were unable to field teams on the day. Due to this Pub Sports and Cypriot Society found themselves facing each other for the second time this season. Earlier in the year Pub Sports had inflicted an upset 4-3 win to pick up their first points of the campaign and proved their mettle again, taking a 1-1 draw and limiting Cypriots to their lowest goal haul of the season. The four points each side picked up on the day moved them back into the race for the promotion spots in LIGA B.

The other game in LIGA B was a highly anticipated top of the table clash between leaders Chaps Society and their closest rivals Puyol Pants Down, with the latter knowing that a win would move them into striking distance of 1st place. The game proved to be a tight affair as expected and the score remained locked at 0-0 going into the final quarter of the game. Puyol struck first to take the lead with twenty minutes to go. Chaps responded by making changes to both formation and personnel and these alterations succeeded spectacularly as they crashed in two quickfire goals to take the lead and were then able to hit Puyol twice more on the break as they tried to get back into the game, leaving the final score 4-1 in Chaps favour.

In LIGA C the outcome of the two matches that took place were far more clear cut. With Expected Toulouse and Chamakh My Pitch Up unable to field teams FC Banterlona and Ajaxonometric found themsleves playing each other and Banterlona took advantage to rack up a hefty 7-1 win. The final game of the day proved the most expansive win of the day as Blenheim FC won 11-1 against an understrength Red Stripe Belgrade to retain top spot in LIGA C.

Week 12's LIGA Team Of The Week Award goes to ACS FC for their 5-0 win over BSOC All Stars which moved them to the top of the LIGA A table.

Following the rain hit fixtures over recent week the next sets of fixtures will see the LIGA's be stabilised so that each team has played each other once.

In LIGA A the big clashes keep on coming as Kings Of Leon Osman play ACS for the first time since their narrow defeat in the LIGA Cup Semi Final last season. Bassetts All Sorts face the redoubtable History Society looking to take advantage of any slip up by ACS to retake the league lead.

Only one game takes place in LIGA B with top playing bottom as Chaps Society meet Goldsmiths FC, whilst in LIGA C Chamakh My Pitch up play Ajaxonometric and Red Stripe Belgrade meet Expect Toulouse.

The final game of the day is the decisive LIGA Cup Group D meeting between Blenheim FC and BSOC All Stars. Blenheim come into the game knowing that only a win will do as the sides face off for a place in the LIGA Plate Quarter Finals.
