Bundesliga Week 7 Team Of The Week CC Cosmos

Summary of the action from Week 7 of NTU's Bundesliga 5-A-Side competition

Round Seven of the Bundesliga 5-a-side saw the emergence of potential new challengers at the top of the table, along with serious threats being mounted against a couple of the teams already established in this position.

The day kicked off in a low key way as the 2pm kick off between Is Your Motherwell and Real Sosobad was cancelled due to Motherwell’s inability to field a side. The staff team had struggled to gather players over the past few weeks and this game proved to be the final straw as they withdrew from the competition to focus their efforts on the SERIE 6-a-side. As a result Sosobad picked up their first three points of the season and Motherwell will be replaced from next week by Token Hotspur.

The days proper games started at 2.30 with the continued revival of CYPS, who picked up a 10-4 win over veteran side The Chaps. This was followed by the game of the day which almost saw an upset caused as LEX FC, who have struggled at times following their runner-up season in 2012-13, ran table toppers Inter de Nott close in a narrow 5-4 defeat.

At 3.30 ASE FC continued their free scoring way with an 8-1 defeat of Cheers United, a scoreline that was repeated in the next game as Always On Top continued their own winning run against Harpins Boys. Ay Bird FC then put in a valiant effort against debutant side Baines On Toast, losing 5-3, but playing the entire game with only four players.

The final two games featured teams needing to win to keep up the pressure on Inter and ASE at the top playing against two sides who knew a win would move them back onto the fringes of the title hunt. First CC Cosmos picked up a convincing 4-1 win over old foes Exeter Gently to move back level on points with ASE FC, then 5 Elite won 6-4 in a highly competitive match against NTU ISOC to leave themselves just one point behind Cosmos and ASE.

Team Of The Week for Round Seven goes to CC Cosmos as they picked up their fifth win on the bounce, this time against Exeter Gently, to maintain their place in the top three in the league.

Round Eight in the Bundesliga is the last one to be held before the four week Christmas break takes effect. Along with the debut of Token Hotspur in the 2pm kick off, the big highlight of the week is the 5pm game between leaders Inter de Nott, the only team with a 100% record so far this season, and the second place goal machine that is ASE FC.
