Summary of the action and events from Week 7 of NTU's Inter-Mural League

Week 7's fixtures saw the return to action of the LIGA following the Christmas break. Despite the weather affecting pitch availability again and two teams being unavailabel due to unfit players, 6 fixtures were still played at Victoria Embankment.

In Pre-LIGA A Mathematic Bilbao faced off against Brack City to see who would finish as top seed from this league, with Mathematic Bilbao winning 5-2 and finishing the seeding period undefeated. The other competitive match in Pre-LIGA A saw a promotion head-to-head between ACS FC and Table Tennis Society, the winner of which would play in LIGA A from next week. ACS recovered from their 4-3 defeat to BSOC Bulldogz at the end of 2012 in dramatic fashion running out 8-0 winners and guaranteeing themselves a place in the top league.

Pre-LIGA B saw only one of the two planned games go ahead, but it turned out to be a crucial one, as Kings Of Leon Osman and Quantity Surville played for the last qualifying spot in LIGA A. In an extremely even and end-to-end game Quantity Surville finally came out as 3-2 winners to take the prize.

One LIGA C fixture also took place on Wednesday. Thanks to the vagaries of the cancellations pre-Christamas AFC Botton faced Bayer Neverloosen for the third game running. However, whilst previous games had finshed 3-3 and then 7-1 in AFC Botton's favour, this time round Bayer ran out 4-2 winners in a hugely entertaining game where either team could have easily scored 8 or 9.

Two other fixtures were played in the guise of Friendly matches. Bayer Lexerkusen & BSOC All-Stars (who were already guaranteed places in LIGA B and LIGA A respectively) played as their league opponents were unable to fulfill their fixtures. In a close game BSOC won 5-4, with Lex showing that they will be a force to be reckoned with in LIGA B.

BSOC Bulldogz, who had already played all their Inter-Mural fixtures and secured a place in LIGA A played against Nottingham Trent University's Men's 4th team. Despite the game finishing 5-1 to the BUCS team, BSOC held their own for large portions of the game and gave a great account of the standard of players in Inter-Mural football at NTU.

Next week sees the beginning of the LIGA A and B competitive periods along with the continuation of LIGA C.
