Summary of the action from Week 8 of the LIGA 11-A-Side Leagues

Following the snow enforced break the league had sustained fore the past two weeks, NTU's 11-a-side LIGA resumed this week. With Clifton Playing Fields being hit by flooding due to the snow-melt, and Brack City needing their fixture rearranging due to their players being away in Edinburgh, five windswept matches took place at Victoria Embankment, spread across all three LIGA's.

LIGA A featured the second meeting of the season between BSOC All Stars and Quantity Surville. Whilst the first fixture had resulted in a closely fought 2-2 draw, Quantity Surville were this time able to lay down an impressive marker for their title aspirations, picking up a 4-1 victory. The second game played in LIGA A saw BSOC Bulldogz play an under-strength Maltings FC who were only able to field ten players. Maltings held out gamely for 60 minutes but a combination of the wind factor and fatigue ultimately saw BSOC Bulldogz run out comfortable 5-0 winners.

LIGA B saw the debut of a new team in Average Joe's against FC Futsal, who were themselves debuting a new lurid pink kit! In the closest game of the day FC Futsal were able to hold out to start their season with a 4-3 win against a Average Joe's team that recovered from 3-0 down. LIGA B's second game was a duplicate of one of the Week 1 from Pre-LIGA A, with Table Tennis Society facing Red Stripe Belgrade. The score was almost replicated as well, though Red Stripe Belgrade were able to follow up the 3-3 draw in their first meeting with a 3-2 win, their first of the season.

LIGA C featured a second meeting of the season between History Society Football Club and Dynamo Chicken Kiev. It was the former who were able to keep up their impressive start to the season to obtain a 7-1 win, though the 1-1- half time scoreline showed that wind may have been a factor in the ultimate margin of victory.
