Plant climb to the top

Old Elizabethans relinquished their position at the top of the Premier Division after being held to a 1 – 1 draw by Ravenshead who after leading through Jamie Foster conceded a penalty in the last minute of the first half. Meanwhile new leaders AS Plant United netted four goals without reply from Derbyshire Amateurs. Elsewhere AFC South Wingfield 93 slipped to a solitary goal defeat in the Semi Finals of the Derbyshire FA Junior Cup at the hands of Ashbourne Reserves.
Alvaston United remain in charge at the top of Division 1 but only on goal difference following Wollaton III’s 4 – 0 defeat of Ashfield FC who were hit by a double from George Bacon and goals from Scott Hughes and Ian Allum. Substitute Aaron Vince’s goal for Kirkby Athletic proved sufficient for his side to earn a point against Mansfield Hosiery Mills leaving Athletic in fourth place and two points adrift of the leaders. Fifth placed Old Bemrosians were 5 – 2 victors at the expense of Blidworth Welfare Red who were hit by doubles from Brett Fox and Kurt Phillips as well as a goal from Geoff Byrne. Derbyshire Amateurs II now trail seventh placed ASHA by seven points after going down to them 3 – 1 with Matt Welsh, Ricky Barnes and Tom Higgins on the score sheet.
