Travellers Try To Trump Ravenshead's Tilt for the Title.

AS Plant United are the new leaders of the Premier Division thanks to their 5 – 1 defeat of Beeston OBA whose consolation goal, a Henry Nash penalty, arrived with the score line at 5 – 0. Plant gave Beeston a lesson in finishing with James Senior netting a double and Sam Holmes together with substitutes Darren Campbell and Stefan Wright completing the tally in a much tighter game that the score suggests. A goal from Jamie Simons in the 62nd minute was all that Ravenshead required to claim victory at the expense of Derbyshire Amateurs who had been trounced 8 – 1 by AFC South Wingfield 93 just two days before. Hat tricks from both Jay Miles and Chris Evans together with a double from Brad Ahlfors put paid to Amateurs’ chance of gaining a point.
Blidworth Welfare Reds’ hopes of climbing off the bottom of the Division 1 were cruelly dashed when Alvaston United secured a last gasp winner with the scores level at 3 – 3. Paul Williams, Chris Rose, Chris Townsend and Jon Fairbrother were on the mark for the victors who gained some slight consolation for their 2 – 1 defeat two days earlier in the MAA Intermediate Cup at the hands of Ravenshead II.
Mansfield Hosiery Mills were unable to find a reply to a Liam McCormack hat trick, and Andy Gill’s double as well as a solitary goal from Josh Slade which finished in a 6 – 0 defeat by Wollaton III. Meanwhile ASHA FC shared four goals with Wollaton IV when goals from Shaun Slater and substitute Austin Long nullified Matt Welsh’s double for ASHA. A goalkeeping error in a fierce encounter between Old Bemrosians and Sutton Travellers presented Liam Dury with the only goal of the game. The three points gained enable Travellers to remain the only side which can prevent leaders Ravenshead II from claiming a cup and league double.
