Game Changer –The FA’s 5 Year Plan for Women’s football in England

Today, The FA launched a plan for the future of women’s football in England. Entitled ‘Game Changer’ it will harness the momentum of the Olympics and drive the game forward at every level.

The FA General Secretary Alex Horne joined England National Coach Hope Powell, England international Steph Houghton and The FA Head of National Game Kelly Simmons to discuss plans to further develop women’s football in this country. Maria Miller MP, the Rt Hon Secretary of State for Culture Media and Sport also took part and spoke about the importance of The FA leading the way. Clare Balding hosted the panel discussion on the plans.

As David Bernstein, FA Chairman explained; “Women’s football is the area with the most potential for growth in the nation’s favourite game. We are determined to lead that development at every level and have created a robust plan for doing so using all our resources and knowledge.”

The FA will make these key commitments:
- Create an Elite Performance Unit and appoint a Head of Elite Development
- Deliver a new commercial strategy for women’s football
- Expand The FA Women’s Super League
- Grow Participation
- Grow fanbase
