THREE: Reasons To Watch The Wildcats!
There's just three weeks to go until Durham Women kick-off their FA Women's Super League season!
And the Wildcats start with an extremely exciting game - newly-promoted Tottenham Hotspur will visit New Ferens Park on the opening day of the season in what promises to be an enjoyable afternoon of football.
The new season comes after the England Lionesses inspired a nation all over again after their run to the semi-finals of the 2017 European Championships, and interest in women's football is at an all time high.
Interest in our new campaign has been high too, with more Season Tickets than ever before sold and tickets already flying off the shelves for games in the first half of the season.
But we know some people are still undecided and may well be asking themselves why they should spent their Sunday afternoons watching the Wildcats.
Well, with just three weeks left until the season kicks-off we've put together three reasons why you should come and watch Durham Women this season:
1. THE ENTERTAINMENT
FA WSL 2 will be closer than ever this season with all ten teams vying for a single promotion spot to the top division, and that means there will be plenty of entertaining football in store over the course of the season.
In addition to Tottenham on the opening day, teams such as Aston Villa, Watford, Doncaster Belles and Brighton will visit the North East this season and all of them will bring a host of talented players with them.
And then there's our two exciting Continental Cup ties which bring a local derby against Sunderland and a tough test against two-time FA WSL 1 champions Liverpool - they'll both bring a host of top level players with them including England Lionesses.
With the Wildcats keen to develop their own brand of attacking football, there promises to be plenty of exciting action at New Ferens Park this season.
If you don't believe us, check out some of these goals we've scored over the past eighteen months. We're sure you'll be impressed.
2. THE VALUE
The women's game as a whole prides itself on being affordable, and at Durham Women we're no different. We want to offer families the opportunity to have a day out at our games and enjoy high quality football without having to worry about it breaking the bank.
That's why we offer a Family Ticket priced at just £12 for all of our home games. That means two adults and two children can watch us take on some of the best sides in the country for one low price.
For those not part of a family, adults can purchase a match day ticket for £5 while Under 16s, Students and OAPs can gain admission for only £2 in what are equally affordable rates.
Our Season Tickets also offer fantastic value for money too.
Priced at just £40 for adults they offer incredible value and - with a minimum of 11 home games this season (9 FA WSL and 2 Continental Cup) - the cost equates to just £3.64 per game which is terrific in anyone's book.
For a great indication of the value for money our games offer, check out our Match Day Calculator which allows you to add up how much every element of your match day will cost - from tickets to travel and food to a programme!
3. THE ATMOSPHERE
We want all our games to be welcoming for all our supporters, and we pride ourselves on creating a family-friendly environment.
It seems to have worked too, with the club receiving near-perfect scores in the FA WSL Fan Experience Visit Programme during the 2017 Spring Series.
We lay on plenty of activities for junior fans of all ages and our mascot, Candy the Wildcat, is always on hand for selfies pre-match.
Then there's our players - not only are they fantastic footballers but they are also exceptional role models who always make time to meet the fans, pose for photographs and sign autographs after each game.
The atmosphere at our games is far from intimidating and we welcome in all supporters, new and old, and encourage them to mingle with our players post-match.
So why not give it a try? We kick-off our season against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday 24th September (kick-off midday) at New Ferens Park, DH1 1GG.
