RTC: Club promoted to Tier 2 status
Durham Women FC are delighted to confirm that we have received confirmation from the FA that our Girls' Regional Talent Club has been awarded Tier 2 status.
Having been awarded a Regional Talent Club (RTC) licence in 2016, we have worked hard to continually improve standards across the board.
And this desire to improve has been recognised, with the Wildcats one of only a select few clubs to receive a tier promotion this season.
The FA have praised the club's consistent delivery across all six key elements of the RTC structure, which makes it a fantastic place to nurture the next generation of female footballers.
We have already seen a number of players progress through the system and into our senior teams, winning plenty of honours along the way.
This latest news means that we can continue to provide a top-class experience to aspiring female footballers across the North East and Cumbria.
Now, the club hopes to continue to produce players for not only our first team, but the England national teams too.
Speaking after receiving the news, RTC Centre Manager Lee Coulter said: " This is reward for hard work from all involved with the club.
"We strive to aim for better each year and its great this has been recognised by the FA.
"This couldn't have been achieved without the dedication by our staff amd everyone involved within the club."
Technical Director, Steve Common, added: "Over the past two years the club has grown from strength to strength.
"Several of our girls have achieved recognition from the FA at regional and national level, which is credit to the girls and the hard work the coaches have put in to their development. "To achieve Tier 2 status is great recognition for the club and everyone involved at the RTC - including players, staff and parents.
"Becoming a Tier 2club allows us to provide more opportunities for girls in our region with the aim of developing female footballers through a talent pathway though to our first team and national squads."
General Manager Lee Sanders said: "A huge congratulations to Lee, Steve and all the staff at the RTC for the promotion to Tier 2.
"Everyone has gone above and beyond since we were awarded the licence two years ago and this is their reward.
"It's another big step for the club as a whole and the pathway we hope to deliver for our players moving forward "
