NEWS: Trio of club staff earn UEFA B Licence
Three members of Durham Women FC staff have earned the coveted UEFA B Licence coaching award.
Brent Smithson and Katy Hawkins, who work within our RTC, and Gareth Smith, who manages our successful Reserve Side, recently completed the qualification.
The gruelling nine-month course was delivered by Durham County FA and saw the trio gain one of the most sought-after qualifications in football.
By achieving the qualification, our staff will be able to further improve the experience given to our young, aspiring players.
Naturally, all three were delighted to gain the qualification and are looking forward to putting their learnings into action next season.
Smith said: "After a season of hard work working towards my UEFA B, I delighted to have now passed.
"I have had lots of support from the club throughout the season and Steve Common, our RTC Technical Director, has been a great help.
"All the players from U10s to the first team have played apart in helping me to get through the process so thank you to them all and I can't wait for the season to start again."
Hawkins added: "I’m over the moon to have passed my UEFA B after nine months of hard work.
"I’m excited for the season to get started so I can start putting what I’ve learnt in to practice within the RTC."
And Smithson said: "I'm over the moon to pass my UEFA B.
"I have put in a lot of hard work since the course began back in September and it is a great course that I have learnt so much from.
"I want to say a big thank you to the club for all the help and support and the coaches, especially Mark Siddle, Lee Coulter and Steve Common.
"I'm now looking forward to coaching the girls for the new season."
Congratulations to all three from everyone at the club!
