CLUB: Latest Injury News

Durham Women FC have provided an injury update on several first team players.

Read below for the latest injury news:

LAUREN BRIGGS

The midfielder was taken off during the second half of our 2-2 draw with Charlton and has unfortunately sustained a rupture of a previous ACL graft and a fracture to the tibial plateau.

Having previously suffered an ACL injury, Briggs was assessed by the club doctor and was subsequently sent for an MRI scan and has seen a specialist in the past week.

She will now start her rehabilitation programme which is likely to last for a minimum of 12 months, throughout which she will remain a key part of the first team squad and will have the full support of everyone at the club with her return to football.

A period of three months is required for the affected bone to heal properly before surgery can be completed, meaning the midfielder is scheduled to undergo an operation in early January.

CAROLINE DIXON

After suffering from a recurring knee problem, we can happily reveal that Caroline Dixon is back in full training with the first team squad.

She has returned to full contact training and is currently receiving some valuable game time in the reserve team.

NICKI GEARS

The forward picked up an Achilles injury during pre-season and, under the guidance of the club's medical department and strength and conditioning team, has been nurtured back to full fitness with appearances over the last few games.

She is now available for full selection.
