BIG MATCH PREVIEW: Aston Villa (A)
The Wildcats enter their final game of the FA WSL Spring Series knowing a top two finish is still possible.
But they face a tough assignment on the final day of the season - Aston Villa Ladies still have ambitions of taking second spot themselves.
Lee Sanders' side have had a fortnight to bounce back following the defeat to Everton Ladies and, with some productive training sessions since, they will be looking to end the Spring Series well at Tamworth.
Villa joined FA WSL 2 in 2014 having previously been an established side in the FA Women's Premier League, and have impressed in each year in the second tier.
Under the guidance of the experienced Ron Mellor, the Villa squad contains a blend of youth and experience that will prove a stern opposition for any team at this level.
Jade Richards is a towering and commanding presence in the heart of defence, while the lively Maddy Cusack and Beth Merrick provide plenty of ammunition for Tasha Baptiste - a powerful striker.
They may have lost out to Doncaster Belles in their last outing, Villa falling to a 2-1 defeat at the Keepmoat Stadium, but they still sit 5th in the league and can climb up the table with victory on Sunday.
We've Met Before
Aston Villa travelled to New Ferens in July 2016 in a game which saw the Wildcats put in one of their best performances of the season, if not one of their best performances since joining the FA WSL.
Sarah McFadden opened the scoring with a fine curling effort in the first-half before second half headers from Becky Salicki and Sarah Eadon rounded off a 3-0 win after a commanding display.
Speaking to WildcatsTV, midfielder Jordan Atkinson said: "We definitely want to finish on a high.
“We’ve had a good Spring Series. I think the team has played well and we’ve shown what we can do.
“We’ll be looking to take that into the Aston Villa game as well.”
The match will be played at The Lamb, home of Tamworth FC.
Kick-off is at 2:00pm on Saturday 21st May
Tickets are available on the gate at the following prices:
- Adults - £5
- Concessions - £1
